A GREEN CARD OF DISTINCTION
UNTER Dept. of Internal Affairs are thrilled and proud to no end to announce that the incomparable Juana has been confirmed as a full-time resident.

Within the many departments and hallowed halls of UNTER, Juana's craft includes everything we could possibly ask for in a resident: unmatched breadth of musical knowledge, superb technical precision, the ability to open a cold room as well as bring down a hot one, administering all sorts of sound spankings in the middle...the list goes on and on and on.

A LIFE IN PUBLIC SERVICE
A native of Chicago, Juana's life-long affair with dance floor administration and logistics began at such well-regarded institutions as The Generator and Boom Boom Room. Before long, some time around 2001, she began to explore a life behind the decks, and began delivering house, techno and disco legislation herself.

All along, Juana has been obsessively collecting an archive of classic disco and early house tracks, and eventually she developed a taste for straight- ahead techno, darker shades of Chicago underground acid, and deep house of the 80s and 90s.

After her move to the east coast, Juana made her mark in our nation's capital, as a techno organizer and activist, becoming a weekend fixture at local community centers like Flash and U Street Music Hall, and serving as a founding member of the progressive techno think tank Sequence. She then joined the Discwoman action committee in 2017 and is currently serving as a founding member of the DC-based QT BIPOC rave regime NOXEEMA JACKSON.

Please join us in welcoming Juana to her tenure presiding over future assemblies on the UNTER floor.
